Dr. Fred Wong
"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."
- Maya Angelou
Dr. Fred C. Wong grew up in Covina, California. He was raised in a dental family with his father, Dr. Francis Wong, having been a dentist since 1960. It was only natural that Dr. Fred follow in his father’s footsteps and he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychobiology from UCLA and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from USC in 1988.
Awards & Honors
During his time in school, Dr. Wong received various awards including: an academic scholarship to UCLA, The Floyd Hogeboom Award for outstanding achievement in pediatric dentistry and the Dental Ambassador Award for 3 years of voluntary service with the USC Mobile Clinic, which traveled to various underprivileged areas in Southern California and Mexico.
Service
Dr. Wong's commitment to service was represented early on by being one of the founding fathers of Lambda Phi Epsilon, a service orientated national fraternity. He was a past Board Advisor for Bryman / Corinthian Colleges and a Mount San Antonio College Health Fair Representative for Dentistry since the late 1990's. He has also volunteered for the Hacienda-La Puente Children's Dental Clinic.
Continuing Education
Dr. Wong is a strong proponent of continuing education which is evident by his many Post Graduate Certifications such as his certification by the Academy of Laser Dentistry. He became interested in laser dentistry in 1993 and used the Nd:Yag, Argon, and CO2 Laser Systems. He also received a fellowship by the International Congress of Oral Implantologist, Certification in the California Implant Institute, and Certification by the Dental Organization Congress of Oral Sedation.
Associations
Dr. Katie Tsuchiyama
"Believe you can and you're halfway there."
- Theodore Roosevelt
Dr. Katie Tsuchiyama grew up in Arcadia, California. Though she is the first dentist in her family, she is no stranger to dental care as she spent over a decade receiving complex treatment due to rare congenital conditions. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from UC San Diego in Biochemistry and Cell Biology before attending UCLA for her Doctorate in Dental Surgery.
Dr. Katie is extremely passionate about education and has over ten years of experience teaching math and science. As a doctoral student, she spearheaded the creation of UCLA’s first student run website aimed towards streamlining and improving patient care. She continues to volunteer her time with UCLA to improve and maintain the site and serve future students and patients.
When she’s not doing dentistry, you can find her working on one of her many hobbies such as pottery or watching the latest streaming series with her two (very large) cats, Charlie and Tucker.

"Being happy is the goal... but greatness is my mission."
-Childish Gambino
Being in the dental field since 1992, my goal has always been to be compassionate, understanding and sincere. Since joining the Blue Ocean Dentistry team, I now understand how a dental office should be – a home away from home.
I always look forward to meeting patients, going over new dental procedures, technologies and helping them achieve an exceptional level of dental well-being. I am proud to contribute to the excellent quality of dental treatment Dr. Wong and our team provides. Working at Blue Ocean Dentistry has not only allowed me to make every aspect of our patient’s dental experiences pleasurable, but has also provided me with an extended family which I cherish greatly.

"It's not about perfect. It's about effort."
-Jillian Michaels
I have been in the dental field for more than 5 years. Before starting hygiene school, I started out as a front desk assistant. I realized my passion in dentistry and pursued my dental hygiene at San Joaquin Valley College.
I enjoy educating my patients in their oral health care. My main goal is to help my patients understand their oral health, and how to keep their teeth and gums healthy. I am up-to-date and will continue educational courses for the latest information. What I enjoy most is creating a relationship with my patients and providing outstanding care.
When I am not working in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy traveling and trying new foods.

My journey in the dental field began back in 2004. I grew up in Pasadena, California and I graduated from Pasadena High School. After high school, I attended Pasadena City College and Bryman College. I am a wife and a proud mom of three boys. On my time off, I love spending time with my husband and boys. We are actively involved at our church and also very involved with our three sons’ soccer programs.
The passion for dentistry was imbedded in me since the very first day I put on my scrubs. I have learned so much in the past years and I will continue to learn and expand my knowledge in the dental field. My dedication to the field of dentistry and my commitment to pursue excellence in customer satisfaction is truly matched by the staff.
